چکیده

6 A system for removing shell pieces from hazelnut kernels using impact vibration analysis was developed 7 in which nuts are dropped onto a steel plate and the vibration signals are captured and analyzed. The 8 melcepstral feature parameters, line spectral frequency values, and Fourier-domain Lebesgue features were 9 extracted from the vibration signals. The best experimental results were obtained using the mel-cepstral 10 feature parameters. The feature parameters were classified using a support vector machine (SVM), which 11 was trained a priori using a manually classified dataset. An average recognition rate of 98.2% was achieved. 12 An important feature of the method is that it is easily trainable, enabling it to be applicable to other nuts, 13 including walnuts and pistachio nuts. In addition, the system can be implemented in real time. 14

The Aspergillus flavus Susceptibility of Hazelnut Varieties (Corylus avellana L.) in Laboratory Conditions

Iran has suitable conditions for cultivating high-quality varieties of hazelnuts (Corylus avellana L.). Most of hazelnut orchards in Iran have been established by planting native genotypes. Aspergillus flavus Link. (AF) is a filamentous fungus affecting hazelnut kernels in orchards and during storage conditions. The most widely explored strategy for reducing aflatoxin contamin...

The Effects of Kernel Feeding by Halyomorpha halys (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) on Commercial Hazelnuts.

Halyomorpha halys Stål, the brown marmorated stink bug (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), is an invasive pest with established populations in Oregon. The generalist feeding habits of H. halys suggest it has the potential to be a pest of many specialty crops grown in Oregon, including hazelnuts, Corylus avellana L. The objectives of this study were to: 1) characterize the damage to developing hazelnut k...

Hazelnut shell as a valuable bio-waste support for green synthesis of Ag NPs using Origanum vulgare leaf extract: Catalytic activity for reduction of methyl orange and Congo red

In this work the Origanum vulgare leaf extract was used to green synthesis of Ag nanoparticles (NPs) supported on Hazelnut shell as an environmentally benign support. The Ag NPs/Hazelnut shell as an effective catalyst was prepared through reduction of Ag+ ions using Origanum vulgare leaf extract as the reducing and capping agent and Ag NPs immobilization on Hazelnut shell surface in ...

High Quality RNA Isolation from Leaf, Shell, Root Tissues and Callus of Hazelnut (Corylus avellana L.)

Extraction of high quality RNA is a critical step in molecular genetics studies. Hazelnut is one of the most important nuts plants in the world. The presence of the taxol and other taxanes in hazelnut plant necessitates explaining their biosynthesis pathway and identifying the candidate genes. Therefore, an easy and practical method is necessary for RNA extraction from hazelnuts. Hazelnut has h...
